Dear Candid Candace: Now that the election signs are coming down and the campaign commercials have (hopefully) gone away, what's your take on America's political obsession? Do you think we're more divided than ever, or do we just need to spend less time arguing on social media and more time having dinner together?

Dear Politics-Free: I think we could all use a little less outrage and a lot more face time, preferably over a nice glass of Pinot Grigio and a great dinner at Gibsons! Politics has always inspired passionate opinions, but somewhere along the way, we've forgotten that we can disagree without declaring war on one another. My advice? Keep your convictions, respect your neighbor's and maybe establish a no-politics rule at Thanksgiving dinner. We all know how that can end! Eeks!
Dear Candid Candace: Chicago is about to enter its busiest holiday season, with the Thanksgiving Parade, Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, holiday parties, galas and shopping all competing for our attention. Is there such a thing as too much holiday cheer, and how do you survive the season without needing a vacation by New Year's Eve?

Booked, Busy and Looking for My Holiday Survival Kit
Dear Booked & Busy: In Chicago? Absolutely not! We wait all year for this sparkle, and I'm ready for every bit of it. From the tree lightings and holiday windows to the parties where everyone promises they'll only stay for one drink, it's one of my favorite times of year. My survival strategy is simple: cute sneakers, a well-edited calendar, a warm coat and knowing when to say no. Although, let's be honest, saying no to a fabulous party has never been my strongest suit! :-)
