Blue Origin successfully launched its heavy‑lift rocket New Glenn (named after astronaut John Glenn) from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida Nov. 13. The rocket carried twin spacecraft named ESCAPADE Blue and ESCAPADE Gold, built for NASA to study Mars’ atmosphere and magnetic environment according to Reuters. The partially reusable two-stage New Glenn, stands at more than 320 feet and is one of the tallest rockets ever built.

Before the launch, weather and space‑weather caused delays: the mission was originally planned for earlier but was postponed due to clouds and solar activity. The rocket’s first stage booster successfully separated and landed on a sea‑based platform, achieving an important milestone in its reusable‑booster strategy.
The twin ESCAPADE probes will enter an Earth‑proximity orbit, later use a gravity assist, and aim for Mars arrival in fall 2027 as noted in NASA Science.
