Brokeback Mountain film honored at Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame event.

To kick off Pride Month in 2026, the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame has announced a special benefit performance of the North American premiere of Brokeback Mountain. This high-profile fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, June 2, at the prestigious Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

The event promises an evening of cultural significance and community support, featuring a dedicated reception followed by the stage adaptation of Annie Proulx’s iconic story. This production marks a major milestone for Chicago’s theater scene, bringing the raw, emotional power of the acclaimed novella and film to the stage for the first time on the continent.

Proceeds from the night will directly benefit the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame. Established as the first city-sanctioned institution of its kind in the world, the Hall of Fame is dedicated to honoring the individuals, organizations, and allies who have made lasting contributions to the quality of life for LGBTQ+ residents in Chicago.
