Chicago philanthropist Marty Wilke honored for Alzheimer’s advocacy

The Alzheimer's Association recently hosted its inspiring Power of Purple: A Reason to Hope luncheon, an event dedicated to raising awareness and critical funding for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The luncheon brought together community leaders, caregivers and advocates united by a shared mission to bring hope to families impacted by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

A highlight of the afternoon was the recognition of Marty Wilke for her longtime commitment to the organization and its work. Wilke’s dedication to the cause was inspired by her father, Cliff Wilke, whose journey with Alzheimer’s deeply affected their family and motivated her to become an active advocate for education, research and caregiver support. Marty has shared that attending her first Alzheimer’s Association “Reason to Hope” event in honor of her father transformed her understanding of the disease and inspired her ongoing involvement with the organization.

Throughout the afternoon, guests heard powerful stories from families facing the realities of memory loss, while also learning about advances in treatment, early detection and research initiatives aimed at ending the disease. The event served as a reminder that behind every diagnosis is a network of loved ones, caregivers and advocates working tirelessly to create a brighter future.
