‘Designs for Dignity’ gala will raise funds to transform nonprofit spaces and 'life the human spirit'

Designs for Dignity (D4D), a nonprofit organization that aims to transform existing nonprofit environments through pro bono design services and in-kind donations, announces its 23rd annual fundraising event — Spirit of Design — Wednesday, May 17.

Supporters are invited to attend this highly-anticipated affair which will take place from 6-9 p.m. at Theater on the Lake, featuring delicious fare, craft cocktails, live auction, raffle prizes, lively entertainment, and more. This year’s event will be co-chaired by Michael Abrams of Michael Abrams Interiors and Nicholas Moriarty of Nicholas Moriarty Interiors.

“We are so thrilled to once again be hosting Spirit of Design and welcoming Chicago’s incredible and robust design community for a fun-filled evening supporting and celebrating our mission,” says Jennifer Sobecki, CEO of Designs for Dignity. “Since D4D’s’s inception, we have positively impacted the lives of more than 700,000 individuals by transforming 260+ nonprofit spaces and leveraging $18+ million in pro bono design services and donated materials, thanks to the power of design and the community’s support.”  

Now in its 23rd year, Spirit of Design provides an opportunity to honor and support D4D’s longstanding mission of empowering lives through design. The organization is steadfast in its commitment to harness the combined power of pro bono design, construction talent, and donated materials to breathe new life into existing nonprofit spaces, all while applying a trauma-informed design approach to create environments that heal, restore, and lift the human spirit.

Proceeds from the evening will directly benefit Chicagoland nonprofit organizations through the remodeling and revitalization of their spaces. 2023 D4D grantees include: CASA Lake County, Chicago Lighthouse, DuPage PADS, Impact Behavioral Health Partners, and Chicago Jesuit Academy.
