Chicago's vibrant cabaret scene gears up for its fifth year. Chicago Cabaret Week runs Friday, May 8, through Sunday, May 17. More than 20 shows fill venues across the city and suburbs.
According to the press release, all tickets cost $30 or less, excluding fees. Reservations are urged. The event spotlights blues, Broadway, burlesque, jazz, R&B, American Songbook, and world music.
Diverse lineup highlights icons and themes
Performances range from solo acts to ensembles and piano bar requests. Tribute shows honor musical icons, celebrities, and eras, the announcement confirmed. Others tackle social issues in intimate spots like nightclubs, theaters, and restaurants.
Chicago Cabaret Week's managing director, Anne Burnell, said cabaret ranks among Chicago’s oldest art forms, over 110 years strong. “Cabaret Week is a celebration of the storied history and vibrant community,” the press release stated.
Key shows include Sonia Oyola and Robert Solone's “Love Songs for You” on Mother's Day, May 10. Chicago Cabaret Professionals marks “Tony Bennett at 100” on Monday, May 11, at Rhapsody Theater.
The Peppermint Patties bring “Love You (Hate You) Mean It” on Wednesday, May 13, at Hey Nonny in Arlington Heights. Hilary Ann Feldman revives Carol Burnett's laughs that same day at Borelli's Pizzeria.

Anne and Mark Burnell honor Julie London on Thursday, May 14, at the Copernicus Center. Lou Ella Rose's “The Great Filipino Songbook” follows on Friday, May 15, at Epiphany Center, with guests like Sonia Oyola.
Ava Logan's “Jazz Zing!” swings in on Saturday, May 16, at Haven Entertainment. Muse caps it with “Pure Magic” burlesque on Sunday, May 17, at Newport Theater.
