Chicago’s Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria kicked off Teacher Appreciation Week—which runs through Friday, May 8—with a big giveaway. According to a press release, the family-owned chain invites Chicagoland residents to nominate standout teachers. A total of 70 educators will win free pizza prizes through Sunday, May 10.

Nominations cover preschool to college teachers in public and private schools. Students, parents, staff, and administrators can submit entries online. The greater Chicago area, plus Milwaukee and Phoenix, qualify.

Prizes fuel classroom celebrations

According to the announcement, one ultimate grand prize winner gets a medium deep dish pizza weekly for a year. That winner’s school also scores a full pizza party. Nine more grand winners receive weekly pizzas for 12 months.

Sixty other winners claim a large cheese pizza monthly for a year. Judges pick based on nomination stories of 100 words or fewer. Entries should highlight teachers’ dedication inside and outside of class.

“Teachers shape the future of our communities every single day,” said Marc Malnati, owner of Lou Malnati’s, in the press release. “Their commitment and passion for helping students succeed often go far beyond the classroom. This program is our way of saying thank you and recognizing the incredible role educators play in helping young people learn, grow, and thrive. At Lou Malnati’s, we’re proud to support those who support others.”
