Chicago City Markets return this May with fresh food and more

The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), in partnership with Humana, is happy to announce the return of the Chicago City Markets initiative this summer. The event series will officially begin Thursday, May 11, with the Daley Plaza City Market in the Loop, continuing through Sunday, Oct. 29.  

The Chicago City Markets program includes over 20 outdoor farmers markets across the city, featuring dozens of local vendors selling seasonal produce, and-crafted goods, and more. The markets play an important role in serving underprivileged communities with limited access to fresh food and quality products.

“Chicago City Markets provide access to fresh and healthy food to residents across dozens of neighborhoods, support local vendors and farmers, and offer some of the best street food in the city,” said DCASE Commissioner Erin Harkey.
