Time to lace up your sneakers and get ready to run in support of wildlife this summer. The Lincoln Park Zoo’s annual marathon event “Run for the Zoo” returns for the 46th year on June 2 and registration is now open.
Runners of all abilities are encouraged to come out and support the Lincoln Park Zoo this June. The timed 5k and 10k marathons are perfect for those looking for a challenging competition. Jogging and walking are encouraged for those who prefer a more casual approach.
Run for the Zoo will also feature a special children's obstacle course, engaging kids ages 3-8 in climbing, crawling, and running.
“Run for the Zoo has become a time-honored tradition that we look forward to every year,” said Gretchen Kirchmer, Director of Marketing and Events. “Each time, we see a wonderful community of runners, animal lovers, and zoo fans come together in support of Lincoln Park Zoo. It’s so inspiring to see all these faces—new and returning—turn out to raise funds and awareness for wildlife conservation and animal care.”
This year, participants will receive special medals, an annual race t-shirt, and other post-race goodies. A fun and inclusive celebration will also take place after the race.
Interested parties are encouraged to register today as slots are filling up. Prices for race packages will increase after March 21. Register today at the Lincoln Park Zoo’s official site.
