The annual Taste of Chicago is back in Grant Park, offering an array of food options, music headliners, and a celebration of Eli's Cheesecake. The event takes place for the first time in September this year due to the NASCAR race held earlier this summer.
Visitors can enjoy food, music, and entertainment from Friday, September 8 through Sunday, September 10. As reported by WGN-TV, organizers have said Taste of Chicago is all about trying new things while highlighting longstanding favorites from Chicago, including restaurants like Lou Malnati’s pizza and Eli’s Cheesecake.
Celebrating the event's 43rd year, Eli's Cheesecake will present a massive 1,000-pound cheesecake. The six-foot dessert will be cut into slices on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and will be given out free to the crowd while supplies last, according to NBC Chicago.

Music headliners for Friday include "Masters of the Mic: Hip Hop 50" featuring legendary artists Doug E. Fresh, EPMD, KRS-One, and Slick Rick. Saturday welcomes Lupita Infante and Proyecto Uno, and Sunday night's spotlight is on Chicago indie band Whitney. Along with music, the festival offers a beer hall, wine garden, cocktail lounge, frozen adult beverage station, bounce houses, and numerous games this weekend, as announced by the City of Chicago.
Neal Heitz of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) shared some tips on how to make the most out of a budget at Taste of Chicago on WBBM Newsradio. Heitz suggests targeting "Taste of" portions, which are priced at $5 and offer classic favorites. Additionally, planning out your trip based on the available options from each vendor and bringing Tupperware from home are also practical money-saving strategies.
Visit Grant Park this weekend and immerse yourself in the iconic Taste of Chicago for an unforgettable food and entertainment experience. Keep in mind that street closures include Columbus from Balbo to Monroe, Ida B. Wells from Michigan to Columbus, and Jackson from Michigan to Lake Shore, as reported by Fox32. Streets will reopen 4 p.m. on Monday, September 11.
