NASCAR weekend in Chicago is here, and final preparations are underway ahead of Saturday and Sunday’s events.
The 2024 NASCAR Chicago Street Race will feature two main races, The Loop 110 (NASCAR Xfinity Cup Series) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, and the Grant Park 165 (NASCAR Cup Series) at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The two-day event will also feature exciting musical performances from The Black Keys, Keith Urban, the Chain Smokers, and Lauren Alaina.
Major road closures are in effect across downtown, with portions of Jackson and Balbo drives, Michigan Avenue, and other roadways closed to traffic.
Access to most of DuSable Lake Shore Drive, the Dan Ryan Expressway, and other major highways will remain open, but drivers should plan ahead for increased traffic and longer commute times. All streets will reopen by July 18.
