Wildfire smoke could once again impact air quality across Chicago this week, as fires rage across parts of the western US and Canada.
According to Airnow, the air quality in Chicago was considered “moderate” on Wednesday. In conditions of moderate air quality, sensitive groups are advised to limit outdoor activities, according to the site
The conditions are expected to continue through the remainder of the week, as particles from the wildfires continue to move eastward, according to Airnow.
According to the National Interagency Fire Center, 88 large active wildfires are currently burning across the US, in addition to dozens of fires throughout western Canada and Alaska.
Record high temperatures and dry conditions have impacted much of North America in recent weeks, fueling wildfires from Colorado to British Columbia.
