The Illinois Community For Displaced Immigrants. Also known as ICDI. They provide the newly arrived with essential goods and services, as well as housing support, case management, and family counseling, all with the goal of eventually establishing self-sufficiency. HIAS Immigration and Citizenship. Provides tutoring, counseling, education assistance and translation services among others. Also has a refugee resettlement program. Volunteer opportunities are available. For more information, see this website.
The Illinois Coalition For Immigrant And Refugee Rights. Assists in citizenship workshops, health care, family support, education, and voter registration. Also fights for legislation to protect immigrant’s rights. Volunteer opportunities available. For more information, visit ICIRR’s website.
Illinois immigration Information. Provides legal assistance, legal services and other court- or law-related matters–all for immigrant protection and support. Volunteer opportunities are available for anyone with legal background including law students, lawyers, paralegals, etc. For more information, visit the group’s website.
