The wait is over for pickleball enthusiasts in Chicago, as the city's largest indoor pickleball facility, Social Pickleball Fun (SPF), officially opened to the public on Friday, January 26th. This 42,000-square-foot facility at 2121 N Clybourn Ave in Lincoln Park features pickleball courts, dining, and other entertainment options.
The facility boasts eight pickleball courts, a grab-and-go food and coffee bar, and luxury locker rooms with saunas and showers.
"Whether you're a seasoned pickleball player, you're picking up a paddle for the first time or you're just in to cheer on your friends and family, everyone is welcome", Co-founder Rich Green said in a statement to Timeout Chicago.
For die-hard pickleball players, Club SPF offers a membership program that grants early access to court reservations, free paddle and ball rentals, exclusive monthly programming, and more.
A perfect choice for families, the pickleball facility hosts a special club for children ages 3-11, which includes tennis and pickleball camps, lessons, and events.
When it's time to recharge, SPF partners with Honey Butter Fried Chicken founders Josh Kulp and Christine Cikowski along with former Galit chef Tom Carlin to provide delicious food options and a full-service coffee bar serving Chicago-based Kikwetu Coffee.
According to Timeout Chicago, SPF plans to expand its operations in 2024, adding an additional pickleball court, more food and beverage offerings, and a turf field for games.
