The Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) is rebranding in honor of Citadel founder Ken Griffin following the CEO’s landmark $125 million donation to the institution. According to a statement from the museum, the institution will be renamed the Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry on May 19.

Griffin’s generous donation to the MSI was initially announced in 2019, according to the museum’s statement. The historic grant will allow the museum to continue its mission of engaging visitors in the wonder of scientific exploration for years to come.

"For nearly a century, the Museum of Science and Industry has ignited the curiosity and imagination of more than 190 million visitors," said Griffin in a statement. "I am proud to support MSI in its mission to inspire the inventive genius in everyone."

In celebration of its rebranding, the Griffin MSI will host a free admission day on May 19, where it will unveil several new exhibitions funded by Griffin’s generous donation. As part of the event, the MSI will debut its new immersive experience, “Notes to Neurons”, a multimedia exhibit featuring interactive technologies that explore human connection through music.

Dr. Chevy Humphrey, President and CEO of the Griffin MSI expressed gratitude towards Griffin’s commitment, saying "We are incredibly grateful to Ken Griffin for his historic and generous investment in our Museum, our mission, and our long-term future."

"This gift helps us create exhibits of the future geared toward the next generation of scientists and leaders; it allows us to dig our heels in deeper to support science education in local schools and neighborhoods in new, more profound ways; and it enables us to carry out our mission to inspire the inventive genius in all of us."
