Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Rush University Medical Center have tied for the top position among Chicago-area hospitals in the recent US News & World Report annual rankings. Released Tuesday, these rankings saw Northwestern secure its 14th consecutive placement at the top, while Rush celebrated its sixth year in this esteemed position, according to the Chicago Business Journal. These two Chicago giants were also named among the Best Regional Hospitals in the country by US News.
Highlighting the impact of local medical facilities, Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at US News, said in a press release, “For most Americans, health care decisions are made close to home. The Best Regional Hospitals rankings underscore the difference high-performing local medical centers make.” According to US News, the report evaluated 152 high-performing hospitals nationwide—narrowed down from the original count of 4,500—assessing performance across 15 specialties.

Other noteworthy hospitals
Chicago's other highly ranked institutions include the University of Chicago Medical Center in third place, Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fourth place, and Endeavor Health NorthShore in Evanston in fifth place. Illinois boasts 21 hospitals named in the regional list.
