Illinois is bolstering its reputation as a leader in the electric vehicle sector with the announcement that Adient, a Rivian supplier and global leader in automotive seating, is establishing a facility in Normal. This move, with plans to invest more than $8 million, is set to create 75 new full-time jobs, a significant boost for the region's employment and manufacturing industry, according to the State of Illinois.

Governor JB Pritzker emphasized the strategic importance of Adient's choice to locate in Illinois, highlighting the state’s strong workforce and infrastructure. "Adient’s new facility in Normal is a critical investment in our state’s growing EV ecosystem and supply chain. With yet another global company choosing to locate in Illinois, we're creating more jobs, opportunities, and bolstering economic development," Gov. Pritzker said in the press release.

The facility, which will serve as a supplier to the electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian, will be housed in an 85,000-square-foot warehouse. This plan aims to enhance the efficiency and reduce costs of manufacturing by integrating suppliers on site, according to a statement by Carlo Materazzo, Rivian Vice President of Manufacturing Operations.
