A sad poem: Goodbye to our Chicago Bears

I guess it’s time to say goodbye,

Our beloved Bears, now on the fly

Leaving town? It seems it’s true

We’re going to miss the Orange and Blue

No more Soldier Field games, seems they are gone,

All that storied tradition, it just seems so wrong

The memories forever etched

No matter how much we “kvetched”

Arlington tore down their beautiful track,

Then lost the Bears. Now they can’t go back

So it’s off to Indiana, here we go

Many fans say “Just go with the flow”

But that’s gonna be hard to do.

The idea, it’s just way too new—

The Bears moving across state borders?

Definitely not what the Bears’ fans ordered.

You think we’re going to drive that far?

Battle the traffic, while in the car?

On a Sunday morning? That’s a tough ask

Thursday evening? Forget that task.

So for most fans, only one thing to do

Go watch on TV, so what else is new?

We’ll sit through commercials and time-outs galore

And the review replays, oh so hard to ignore

First, we’ll have to figure out where on TV they’re playing

Amazon, Hulu, Peacock, wherever they’re staying

With remote in hand, we can cheer on the Bears

Can’t go to the games, so who really cares?

We’ll still root for the Bears, but it won’t be the same

Seeing Hammond in the background, it seems kind of lame

With the logo on the front, we’ll know they’re from the Chi

But long enough in Indiana, we may have to say goodbye.

Many fans are still asking when, where and why

But our beloved Bears are now on the fly.

Leaving town, it seems, is now very true

We’re all going to miss our beloved Orange and Blue!
