Chicago Star recently hosted a giveaway contest for exclusive tickets to the Adler Planetarium, and the Macaione family from St. Charles, Ill. were the lucky winners! Lisa and Anthony Macaione, along with their two children Ellie and Anna, enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the historic planetarium.
According to Lisa Macaione, the most enjoyable part of her family’s trip was getting to step inside the Atwood Sphere and view the positions of stars in the night sky.
“We loved our tour of the Adler Planetarium and stayed for hours afterwards," Macaione told Chicago Star. “Anna had a blast in the Planet Explorers area, and we all enjoyed the ‘Destination Solar System Sky Show!’”
The family also enjoyed exploring the history of the July 1969 moon landing and other lunar missions, within the Adler’s popular Moon Mission exhibit. The exhibit also features moon mission artifacts, as well as stories from Apollo 13 mission astronaut Jim Lovell and his NASA space flights.
