Ever wonder which state best represents America as a whole? According to a recent data report by the Washington Post, that state is Illinois!

The Post’s recent study has deemed Illinois the most “normal” state in the US, due to population differences between rural and urban areas, among other factors, according to NBC Chicago.

The study notes that Illinois represents America at large when it comes to demographic diversity, with its percentages of White, Black, Latino, Asian, and Native American populations. According to NBC, Illinois also closely resembles America as a whole when considering income levels across the state.

As reported by NBC, the Post’s report considered a large pool of data, and Illinois ultimately beat out other states including Pennsylvania, Florida, and Connecticut to achieve the title of “most normal”.

The Washington Post’s recent study isn’t the first instance of Illinois being named the most normal state. In 2016, NPR released a data report to determine which states best represent America, with Illinois also topping the list.
