On Saturday, March 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Chicago Food Stop will host a family-friendly event to celebrate the city’s 186th birthday. The celebration is open to the public and will be hosted at the pop-up’s permanent address (875 N. Michigan Ave) in the John Hancock Center.
Chicago Food Stop opened recently in December 2022 and is the city’s first food industry related pop-up by World Business Chicago, the City of Chicago, and the Magnificent Mile Association. The pop-up will run through the first quarter of 2023 and features various partner brands in educational TED Talk-style events with many opportunities for delicious food giveaways that are free to the public.
On March 4th, visitors will find limited quantities of free samples:
- 11:30 a.m. — 186 slices of Eli’s Cheesecake will be served
- 12 p.m. — 186 Chicago hotdogs will be served from Vienna Beef and the Weiner’s Circle
- 1 p.m. — slime samples will be given out by SlooMoo Institute’s mascot

Throughout the afternoon session, samples of locally sourced food products will be available from Here Here Market. Entertainment will include slime tricks by the SlooMoo mascot, a Chicago caricature artist, and a comedy showcase starring Dario Durham at 5 p.m.
