A long-awaited Culver's restaurant in Wrigleyville is slated to open its doors this month on October 9, as first reported by Block Club Chicago. The fast-food chain, known for its Butterburgers and frozen custard, has been planning an expansion into Wrigleyville since 2014.
Franchise owner Baron Waller told Block Club, "We just have to get our license and approval from the health department, so we're really excited to be opening soon." Waller owns nine Chicago-area Culver's locations and is the chain's largest minority franchise owner.
The new Culver's will be located at 1111 W. Addison St., across the street from Wrigley Field in a four-story building that also houses a Movement climbing gym and a Taco Bell Cantina. Spanning 3,700 square feet, the restaurant will include indoor dining and a walk-up window for to-go and pickup orders.
Waller expressed enthusiasm about becoming part of the Wrigleyville community. "We’ve been working on this for a while now”, he told Block Club, “and it’s so exciting to be part of the Wrigleyville community." The Wrigleyville location is just one of several planned Culver's expansions in Chicago. Waller told Block Club he plans to open a 10th location in Humboldt Park soon.
"We're just so excited about bringing Culver's to the city. People won't have to go outside the city anymore to get our great hospitable service, butterburgers, and custard," he added.
