Fast-food chain Jack in the Box is making a move to the Chicago area for the first time in decades.
CEO Darin Harris told the Chicago Tribune the West Coast-based chain plans to launch locations in suburbs including Naperville, Tinley Park, and Plainfield, as well as a location near Midway airport. The openings are scheduled for 2025 and may extend into 2026, according to WGN.
Jack in the Box reportedly aims to establish a number of franchise-owned locations around Chicago, with a long-term goal of reaching as many as 125 locations.
"This strategic expansion into Chicago allows us to not only satisfy long-standing customer demand for our brand, but also to become a key player in the region's thriving restaurant scene," said Harris in a statement obtained by the Tribune.
According to reports, the fast-food chain first opened in Chicago in the 1960s before closing its Windy City locations by the 1980s. Jack in the Box is known for its eclectic menu offerings including tacos, burgers, and shakes.
