For men both young and old, the end of cuffing season mixed with a looming Valentine's Day on the horizon can make February a delicate month to navigate, from a love and romance perspective. Like Phil in Punxsutawney, a successful Valentine's Day can mean an early start to summer, and a poorly executed one can mean six more weeks of winter (and a few nights sleeping on the couch).
Thankfully, for those men out there who are not sure where to take their special someone on Valentine’s Day, OpenTable has them covered. The popular reservation app recently released its annual “Top 100 Romantic Restaurants" list featuring establishments from across the country that always set the mood with swoon-worthy ambiance and mouth-watering dishes.
Illinois was lucky enough to land four restaurants on the prestigious list, which are sure to deliver a Valentine’s Day to remember.
Mon Ami Gabi
Whether you’re seeking an intimate dinner for two or a lively gathering with friends and family, Mon Ami Gabi offers an authentic French dining experience like no other. Indulge in their curated menu of timeless French dishes prepared with a modern twist; from Steak Frites and famous Roast Chicken à la Grand-Mère to an extensive wine list that showcases the best of French vineyards, every visit promises a taste of Paris.
Geja’s Cafe
Established in 1965, Geja’s Cafe has been a Lincoln Park institution for over 60 years. Famed for their three-course fondue menu, guests can journey their way from savory melted cheeses to flamed Belgian chocolates all under candlelight ambiance and set to the tune of live Flamenco music.

The only Illinois restaurant featured on the list that is located outside of Chicago, Meson Sabika occupies a gorgeous, restored 1840’s mansion in downtown Naperville, complete with a beautifully curated outdoor garden patio. Meson Sabika specializes in Spanish tapas and sangria that delivers unbeatable international flair to the Midwest. The truly unique setting, paired with the exquisite food, is guaranteed to be a special evening you’ll be talking about for a long time.
North Pond
Situated on the banks of Lincoln Park’s North Pond, which lends its namesake, the North Pond restaurant offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience for Chicagoans. Diners can enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings while enjoying a rotating menu that celebrates “the seasonal bounty of local farms and artisans.” The restaurant offers a popular five-course tasting menu as well as a three-course brunch on Sundays.
