Pokémon Day on Feb. 27 sparks 30th anniversary festivities

Fans gear up for Pokémon Day on Friday, Feb. 27. According to Pokémon.com, this date launches a year of celebrations for Pokémon's 30th anniversary. A new Pokémon Presents video will reveal fresh updates at 6 a.m. PST.

Viewers can catch the stream on official Pokémon YouTube, Twitch, Instagram or TikTok channels. The event promises the latest news from the Pokémon world. Expect announcements tied to the big milestone.

Classic remakes return to Nintendo Switch

According to Nintendo, Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version hit Nintendo Switch systems that day. These digital releases revive the 2004 Game Boy Advance remakes of the original Pokémon Red and Green games from 1996. Players explore the Kanto region with all 151 original Pokémon, Nintendo adds.

The games keep classic turn-based gameplay and soundtrack. Updates include abilities, natures, weather, held items and gender choice for characters. According to Ninento, fans will reunite with Brock, Misty, Professor Oak and Giovanni.

New local co-op lets Switch players link up without old Game Link Cables. Titles launch in English, French and Spanish on My Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop. Select retailers offer them for $19.99 during launch week, according to Nintendo.
