Russia’s new humanoid robot stumbles onstage in first public demo

A new Russian robot named AIdol fell down just seconds after appearing on stage at a Moscow technology event, as reported by theBBC, which captured the dramatic moment on video. The robot was walking onto the stage while the famous “Rocky” movie theme played in the background.

Suddenly, it lost its balance and crashed to the ground. Workers quickly rushed to the stage and tried to cover the fallen robot with a black cloth. However, the cloth became twisted and tangled during the process. The BBC footage showed how the assistants struggled to handle the embarrassing situation. This incident happened at an important technology showcase where Russia wanted to display its progress in robotics and artificial intelligence to journalists and visitors from around the world.

The Washington Post also covered this story as the robot stumbled in front of many journalists who came to see Russia's first humanoid robot with artificial intelligence. Two people walked alongside the robot as it moved slowly onto the stage. When the robot tried to lift its right hand to wave at the crowd, it began to wobble uncontrollably.

According to the Washington Post, the scene looked similar to someone falling after drinking too much at a bar. The robot fell forward completely, landing flat on its face in front of everyone watching. This happened during what was supposed to be a major moment for Russian technology development. 

Technical problems and future plans

TheTelegraph reported that the robot actually broke into pieces when it hit the ground after losing balance while waving. The robot company Idol presented AIdol at a forum organized by the New Technology Coalition in Moscow.

Company leader Vladimir Vitukhin explained the fall happened because of bad lighting and calibration problems, according to the Telegraph. He said the robot is still being tested, and mistakes help create better learning experiences. Therobot was later shown with support strings attached to keep it standing upright.
