President Donald Trump is contemplating further measures against Iran if it continues its uranium enrichment, a move he has consistently opposed, according to Vice President JD Vance. This comes against the backdrop of a heated global standoff tied to the Israel-Iran conflict.
In a social media post, President Trump emphasized his long-standing opposition to Iran's nuclear ambitions. He asserted that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons, saying on Truth Social, "Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon." Trump has urged a deal with Iran to halt its enrichment program.
In recent assessments by international authorities, Iran has allegedly exceeded the enrichment levels permissible for civilian use. Trump’s administration has thus far failed in attempts to negotiate a nuclear agreement with Tehran, as reported by Newsweek.
VP Vance, via X, suggested that Trump might "take further action," a decision resting solely with the president. He stressed that any military action would seek only to protect American interests, according to Politico.
Trump, who recently exited the G7 Summit early, has reiterated the readiness of US forces to assert aerial dominance over Iran, further intensifying speculations of military intervention. Despite rising tensions, Trump stated that military action against Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is "not for now," reported by Fox News.
Vance commended Trump's decade-long consistency against Iranian nuclear progress. The vice president highlighted the difference between civilian nuclear power needs and uranium enrichment, which he alleges Iran has inflated to 'dangerous' levels. He urged Trump's supporters to trust that any actions taken will align strictly with American objectives.
The situation remains fluid, and future decisions could chart significant diplomatic or military pathways involving global partners.
