The sale comes just months after the modest property was listed for $1.995 million, drawing renewed attention to a home that offered Parton a quieter place to escape the spotlight.

Parton owned the property from 2004 to 2014, using it as a weekend retreat. She eventually sold it in 2014 for $940,000. The home changed hands again in 2022 before returning to the market this spring.

Built around 1920, the property sits on a corner lot in downtown Solvang and encompasses approximately 2,500 square feet across three separate residential units. The main farmhouse has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, while two additional units are located in a separate rear building.

Its appeal goes beyond celebrity real estate. The gray cottage features a bright red front door, a white picket fence and a distinctive stained-glass panel above the entrance spelling out “Dolly” alongside a butterfly. A miniature windmill adds another whimsical touch, nodding to Solvang’s Danish heritage.

There are also intriguing reminders of the property’s past. The home was designed with privacy in mind, including reflective windows and other security features. A small “wig room” in one of the apartments has also been highlighted in coverage of the property.

Former owner Cris Lapp purchased the home in 2022 and subsequently restored elements of the property while preserving details associated with Parton’s time there. The three units have been used as rental residences, making the property both a celebrity-history curiosity and an income-producing real estate investment.

For fans, the sale marks the latest chapter in the story of a home that remained relatively under the radar during Parton’s ownership. Though modest compared with the larger estates typically associated with celebrities, the Solvang retreat has a distinctive charm of its own, complete with a red door, butterfly details and a little Dolly magic.
