Brookfield Zoo Chicago transforms into a winter wonderland this season with exciting holiday events for all ages. From decorating trees and adults-only cocktail nights to the spectacular Holiday Magic light display, visitors can enjoy millions of twinkling lights, special attractions, and unforgettable seasonal experiences throughout November, December, and early January.
Zoo After Dark: Holiday Sip & Stroll
Adults aged 21 and over can experience the magic early at the exclusive Sip & Stroll event on Thursday, Nov. 20, zoo sources indicate. This special evening runs from 5:30-9 p.m. and features unlimited seasonal cocktails, live music from DJ Nurotic, and a chance to explore the holiday lights before public opening.

The zoo highlights signature drinks like "The World's Best Cup of Coffee" with cold brew and vodka, and "Santa! I Know Him" with cranberry and gin. Buddy the Elf will roam the grounds for photo opportunities, creating a festive atmosphere for the holiday celebration, event organizers shared.

Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo Chicago
The main Holiday Magic event returns with over 3.5 million lights from Friday, Nov. 21, through Jan. 4, 2026, on select dates, the zoo announces. This year brings new attractions, including a giant light maze, interactive displays, additional light tunnels, and a Holiday Dolphin Show.

The zoo opens exclusively from 3-9 p.m. on event nights, with several animal buildings staying open until 8:30 p.m. Members enjoy free admission and North Gate parking, while South Gate requires advance tickets. A sensory-friendly evening on Thursday, Dec. 4, features dimmed lights and softer music, according to zoo accessibility programs. Santa visits occur on select nights with free meetings included in admission.
