Move over, NASCAR! RPM Raceway plans 90,000 sqft go-kart venue, longest in the Midwest

RPM Raceway plans to open a 90,000-square-foot entertainment venue at Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook, bringing what it says will be the longest multi-level go-kart track in the Midwest to the Chicago suburbs, according to the Chicago Business Journal.

The company said the site will open later this fall in the former Wonderverse space, marking its first location in Illinois and its first move into the Midwest, NBC Chicago confirmed.

Tracks, games and event space

According to the Chicago Business Journal’s report, the Oak Brook venue will include more than 45,000 square feet of multi-level karting across two tracks, plus gaming, food and beverage, and about 10,000 square feet of event space for parties and outings.

RPM Raceway confirmed the facility will offer pro, adult, and junior racing with electric go-karts, along with immersive virtual and augmented reality experiences, an arcade, bowling, digital darts, and racing simulators, per NBC Chicago.

“RPM Oakbrook is our most ambitious venue yet and our first step into the Midwest. Through our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, we’re bringing the Chicago area its longest multi-level go-kart track and a competitive entertainment experience built for families, friends, and colleagues,” said Andrew Farage, founder and CEO of RPM Raceway, in a statement quoted by the Chicago Business Journal.

Per the same report, the company already operates locations in Long Island and Syracuse, New York; Jersey City, New Jersey; and Stamford, Connecticut.
