Futbol en fuego! Chicago Fire make playoffs

Talk about a team playing their best at the right time of the year.

Our Chicago Fire soccer team is doing just that, as they have surged in recent weeks and have now qualified to make the MLS playoffs—the first time for the squad since 2017.

A recent road win over Miami and star Lionel Messi was the clincher. They won that game 5-3, that coming after beating a tough Columbus team at home by the score of 2-0. A recent draw vs. Toronto, 2-2, kept the unbeaten streak alive.

The Fire, under first year coach Greg Berhalter and his new staff, have played well all season long, but are clearly saving their best for last.

The offense in particular, of late, has been completely in sync. The passing majestic, the spacing perfect, the timing precise, and the finishing of plays done with authority and efficiency. Really a beautiful thing to watch!

The fans have been catching on as well. A fan base that used to be frustrated in the past has really jumped on board with this 2025 edition of the team, and home attendance has been increasing as the successful season has progressed.

It doesn’t hurt enthusiasm for the team that a brand-new stadium is on the way. It is scheduled to open in 2028 and will be built specifically with soccer as its main attraction.

More to come on that, but for now, it is all eyes on the final regular season game against New England… and then on to the MLS playoffs.  A chance for the Fire to host some home games for the playoffs is still a possibility, but match-ups and full playoff schedules will not be available till the regular season has concluded.

In the meantime, let’s hope our soccer club can continue the strong momentum and keep their current streak going.

Another way to put it?  Let's keep the heat on, boys!
