Chicago Bears struggle in week two after first triumph

Holy cow, what a difference a week can make.

In week one of the NFL season, the Chicago Bears were the toast of the league, scoring a whopping and record-setting 59 points in their opening game victory over Carolina. The offense looked dominant; Caleb Williams looked like a player who had come of age, and maybe even an MVP candidate.

All was good in Bear-Land! This looked like maybe this could be our breakout year. Bears jerseys and hats and other items were selling off the racks of local clothing and sporting goods stores.

Everything was rolling along beautifully after the week one win.

Then Sunday happened. The complete opposite. On the rain-drenched turf of Soldier Field, the Bears’ offense completely broke down. They went from scoring 59 points to just three against the Vikings!

Total failure in both the running and passing game. Penalties, turnovers, and miscommunication were just a few of the problems.

Then, to make matters worse? In the fourth quarter, disaster struck. Our star quarterback, Caleb Williams, went down with a potentially serious injury. As of this writing, the injury report has not come out. But it didn’t look good as he was helped off the field.

Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent tried to rally the troops and did make some nice plays—but in the end was unable to get the Bears into the end zone.

So, in a dramatic top-to-bottom fall—all in the space of just seven days, our beloved Bears team went from top of the heap to the bottom. They will now try and regroup.

The one loss to the Vikings is not a reason for panic or worries of lost season. The team can easily rebound from the one game.

On the otherhand, the loss of star quarterback Caleb Williams to a potential long-term injury? That could have a real effect on the rest of the season.

We will wait...and hope for the best possible medical report.

Next game up for the Bears is a Monday night, Sept. 28, big game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
