One of Lake Geneva’s most prestigious estates is up for grabs for the first time in decades as the “Allegheny” hits the market for a whopping $24 million asking price.
As reported by Crain’s Chicago, the 102-year-old colonial masterpiece was completed in 1925 by famed architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, who stamped his influence on the area in the early 20th century, designing five homes along the waterfront, with Allegheny being the final.

Visitors enter through a traditional carriage house before being met by a grand lawn leading to the home, outlined by the stately columns that define the period's architecture. A back promenade opens up to spectacular views of Lake Geneva and the compound's private dock. Much of the estate consists of scenic woodland, protected by a conservation easement, ensuring that the parcel remains preserved for prospective buyers.
The property has been in the hands of the same family since the 1940s, after they purchased it from the original owners.

The house was originally built for Lewis Meyers, a business magnate who began his career with the Thomas Edison Company before starting his own firm in Chicago, which would go on to become one of the region's first electricity providers, including original contracts to power the city's street lamps and the L-Trains for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, per his company's website.

Any sale that goes through near the current asking price would represent one of the most expensive sales in Lake Geneva history, with only three properties from the area having eclipsed the $20 million threshold previously, according to The RealDeal.
