Miami-Dade County Public Schools has signed a major deal with Adidas that will change how student athletes get their sports gear. NBC Miami reports that the partnership is worth $13.5 million over five years and will provide uniforms and equipment to every student athlete in the 40 high schools that make up the Greater Miami Athletic Conference. The announcement was made at Traz Powell Stadium, where hundreds of athletes showed off their new Adidas uniforms and gear in a special fashion show.
Superintendent Dr. Jose Dotres explained that Miami-Dade schools provide an amazing pipeline of talent into sports at both state and national levels, so this partnership helps promote and validate the incredible talent in their district, NBC Miami reported. Before this deal, each school had to raise money or use its general funds to buy gear for teams, which created a financial burden. According to NBC Miami, schools will no longer have to worry about this expense since Adidas will provide all the necessary equipment and uniforms for their athletic programs.
The partnership brings significant benefits to both the school district and Adidas, as highlighted by WSVN's coverage of the announcement. Kelly Morris from Adidas stated that their commitment is really about investing in sport and serving student athletes, which represents the core of their strategy and mission from a brand perspective. The company is not doing this as charity work but is making a smart investment in future star athletes who may become professional sports figures, WSVN said.
WSVN also reported that Adidas gets naming rights as part of the agreement, so the famous stadium is now called Adidas Field at Traz Powell Stadium. The stadium serves as home to several schools, including Miami Northwestern, Booker T. Washington, and Miami Central. Student athletes are already expressing their excitement about the new gear, with players saying they appreciate Adidas showing love by providing new apparel, socks, shoes, and other equipment that makes them feel blessed to receive such support.

The Miami Herald's reporting reveals that this deal extends far beyond just varsity teams and covers all levels of school athletics. The partnership includes varsity, junior varsity, and feeder programs across all 41 schools in the Greater Miami Athletic Conference, making it one of the most comprehensive deals of its kind. Adidas will provide apparel, footwear, and equipment, though some items that Adidas does not manufacture, like baseball bats, will still need to be purchased from other sources.
The Miami Herald notes that Adidas is already the exclusive athletic wear provider for major local universities, including the University of Miami, FIU, and Florida Atlantic, making this high school partnership a natural extension of their presence in South Florida sports. Additionally, officially licensed Adidas-made gear featuring 305 and Made in Dade collections went on sale through a special Miami-Dade County Public Schools website, giving Adidas access to merchandise profits while providing fans with official team gear.
