Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur searches for answers after defeat by Atlanta Falcons

The Green Bay Packers left Lambeau Field with more questions than answers after a 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, a defeat that exposed problems in the run game, pass protection, and overall execution, according to ESPN. Through three NFL games, coach Matt LaFleur said the Packers still do not know what they do best on offense.

“We’ve got to continue to work with these guys and try to figure out what we do well,” LaFleur said, per ESPN. “Because right now I don’t know what we’re doing well offensively.”

The Packers rushed for only 17 yards against Atlanta and entered Week 3 averaging a league-worst 64.5 rushing yards per game, ESPN reported. According to the sports publication, their total dropped to 48.7 after Thursday night, and running back Bijan Robinson had more rushing yards in the game than Green Bay has produced all season.

Jordan Love also took heavy pressure again. The Falcons were credited with 12 quarterback hits, and Love has completed 52% of his passes this season, a number that reflects the early struggle to find rhythm, ESPN said.

Blame spreads across the roster

LaFleur said the breakdown was not limited to one unit. He pointed to missed catches, incomplete throws, and play calls that did not work, saying, “There’s plenty of blame to go around,” according to the Green Bay Packers website.

Love echoed that tone and said the offense must improve around him. “Just the feeling I have right now is not good,” he said, per the team’s website. “It always starts with me.”

The Packers are also dealing with injuries and absences. Right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2, ESPN confirmed, while the offensive line has shuffled starters at left guard. The backfield has missed Josh Jacobs, and the receiving corps has been without Jayden Reed.

LaFleur said the team must keep working with the players available and find a better identity before the season slips further away. “We know it’s going to get loud,” he said, according to the team’s website. “You’ve got to ignore the noise, and just focus on what we can do better.”

The Packers now face a long stretch of work after one of the roughest early-season starts of LaFleur’s tenure, with both the coach and quarterback urging patience while searching for fixes.
