Chicago cinema lovers can get their popcorn ready as Rooftop Cinema Club, one of the city's most unique summer activities, returns for the season.
Located on the fifth-floor terrace of the Emily Hotel in the heart of Fulton Market, Rooftop Cinema Club creates a one-of-a-kind movie-watching experience by hosting screenings of beloved films against the backdrop of Chicago's jaw-dropping skyline.
Combining the communal feel of the movie theatre with the comfort of Netflix on your couch, guests can enjoy their favorite films, complete with snacks, drinks, and cozy seats, all while taking in the fresh air and panoramic city views.
Returning for its fifth year in Chicago, Rooftop Cinema Club uses a special projector and gives each patron state-of-the-art headphones to bring surround sound audio right to your seat, ensuring a seamless movie-watching experience for all.
Both food and beverage are available for sale at each showing, with popcorn and candy for purchase as well as a fully stocked bar of beer, wine, and signature cocktails, making Rooftop Cinema Club the perfect option for an evening out with friends or the ultimate date night.
The club hosts events seven days a week during the season, with most nights offering multiple screenings, meaning there's always a flick to catch, whether you're a regular or just visiting for the first time.
As listed on the group's website, this summer's schedule is chock-full of fan favorites and timeless classics, including titles such as “La La Land,” “Sinners,” “Friday,” “The Princess Bride,” and many more. For those with children, keep an eye out for family-friendly nights with films such as “The Sandlot” and “Wicked: For Good.”

Guests can even arrive early to secure a good seat while enjoying lawn games, photo opportunities, and pre-show concessions.
According to the company's website, Rooftop Cinema Club was founded in 2011 in the East London neighborhood of Shoreditch before expanding across the sea to the U.S. The group currently operates eight locations in major hubs across the country, plus two venues in London.
Ticket prices range from $13-35 based on seat type and time of day, with packages that include popcorn available for purchase as well. Tickets may be for sale at the door, provided the screening is not sold out, but it is highly encouraged to score your seats ahead of time.
The club officially restarted for the year on Wednesday, May 6, and typically runs through the autumn months as long as the weather permits.
