Will Zendaya pull a Houdini? Actress drops slew of 2026 releases, including “The Drama”

Emmy winner Zendaya kicks off a whirlwind 2026 with five major projects. “The Drama” hits theaters Friday, April 3, and just nine days later, “Euphoria” season three premieres Sunday, April 12, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

Later this summer, her notable works will include Christopher Nolan's “The Odyssey,” which arrives on Friday, July 17. Then “Spider-Man 4,” starring Tom Holland, follows on Friday, July 31.

“Dune3 ” closes the year for the busy actress on Friday, December 18, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. According to the report, her packed schedule has Zendaya eyeing a potential retreat.

Plans to disappear after the release

The actress expressed hope that "people don't get sick of me," Zendaya told Fandango, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm disappearing for a little bit. I'm going to have to go into hiding for just a little bit."

She voiced thanks to fans as well. "I really appreciate everyone who supports any of the movies or supports my career in any kind of way," she said, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. Still, the pace demands a pause.

Come summer 2027, she returns for “Shrek 5.” In this film, she will voice Shrek's daughter Felicia alongside Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz, the Hollywood Reporter noted.

“The Drama” draws controversy

“The Drama” stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as an engaged couple. Her character Emma confesses a dark teen secret: she planned a school shooting but backed out, as reported by People.

A non-profit gun control organization, March for Our Lives, founded by Parkland shooting survivors, issued a warning, according to People. The group called out A24's marketing on Instagram on Thursday, April 2.

"The film may be attempting to engage real questions about accountability and change, but A24's marketing does not meet it there," March for Our Lives wrote on Instagram, according to People. "The way this film has been marketed is deeply misaligned with the reality it engages."

"We expect better from A24 and the artists behind it," the statement added, People noted. Musicians Aly & AJ, who People confirmed survived a mass shooting in 2022 outside one of their concerts, backed the statement, saying the marketing "made us sick."

The film opened amid debate today. A24 offered no comment.
