For more than a century, the Maxwell Street Market has been one of Chicago's most beloved traditions, bringing together food, music, shopping and culture in a lively open-air setting on the Near West Side. The historic market returns for its 2026 season with six dates scheduled from May through October, continuing a legacy that dates back to the late 1800s and has made Maxwell Street a destination for generations of Chicagoans and visitors alike.

 Held on Maxwell Street between Halsted Street and Union Avenue, the market offers a colorful mix of vendors selling everything from handmade crafts and vintage treasures to clothing, jewelry, housewares and unique resale finds. Visitors can also enjoy an array of international street food, live entertainment and the vibrant atmosphere that has defined the market for more than 100 years. Admission is free. 

The 2026 season opened on Sunday, May 17, and will continue on June 7, July 19, Aug. 9, Sept. 13 and Oct. 4. Throughout the season, shoppers can browse hundreds of vendor booths, sample local and international cuisine and enjoy live performances that celebrate the neighborhood's rich cultural heritage.
