The Langham, Chicago is bringing a Harry Potter-themed afternoon tea to the city this fall with an experience called the Forbidden Forest Afternoon Tea. The offering runs from Saturday, Sept. 5 through Sunday, Nov. 22 and is open to witches, wizards and fans of all ages.

The hotel says the event blends whimsy with food and drink, pairing pastries, sandwiches and themed beverages in a setting meant to feel magical. Reservations are available on OpenTable, and pricing starts at $130 per person and $70 for children ages 5 to 12.

What’s on the menu

The Forbidden Forest menu includes the Gryffindor Coronation Chicken Tartlet, made with green circle confit chicken salad, golden raisins, curry aioli and phyllo. Other savory items include the Hufflepuff Honey Ham Gougères, with Jambon de Paris, Dijon mustard, white cheddar and cornichon. Guests can also order the Greenhouse Cucumber Tartine, which features English cucumber, whipped lemon ricotta, dill, pea shoot and edible flowers.

Sweet treats that bring magic to the menu include Pumpkin Chai scones, Butterbeer Paris Brest, a dark chocolate mousse called Mandrake Root, The Golden Snitch macaron, and a vanilla mousse called Phoenix Feather. 

The Langham’s proprietary teas boast a variety of herbal, green, and black teas. Themed adult drinks include the Spellbound and Liquid Luck cocktails, along with nonalcoholic cocktails such as the Rising Phoenix and Enchanted Forest. Several different options of champagne and bubbly beverages are also available.
