Wicker Park’s The Violet Hour named one of Food & Wine’s Global Tastemakers

Wicker Park’s The Violet Hour has been named one of the top bars in the U.S, according to Food & Wine’s Global Tastemaker Awards. The stylish bar ranked at number 10 among the list of the finest 11 U.S. drinking establishments, a standout for its ambiance and creative takes on classic cocktails.

Since its opening in 2007, the James Beard award-winning bar has delivered on its commitment to crafting artisanal cocktails and providing guests with a unique drinking experience.

Situated behind an unassuming exterior at 1520 N. Damen, the bar is known for its speakeasy-inspired presentation. Its hidden entryway and long velvet curtains give a sense of vintage exclusivity.

The Violet Hour’s speakeasy theme extends to its drink selection, with cocktails separated by either shaken or stirred. According to Food & Wine, the staff “isn’t just happy to walk you through the history of hooch, they’re eager to share that expertise.”
