Iran's top leader has warned of stronger attacks against the United States and Israel after last month's military conflict, according to Fox News reporting on recent statements. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told state television that his country is ready to face American power and Israel, which he called “America's dog on a leash.” The Iranian leader claimed that the attack on a US air base in Qatar last month was only the start of what Iran could do to Washington. He warned that an even bigger blow could hit the US and other countries.
Fox News noted that while US officials believe Iran's nuclear program was set back by up to two years after strikes on key facilities, Iran still has many of its missiles. According to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, security experts say Iran likely still has around 1,500 medium-range missiles and half of its launching abilities even after the Israeli attacks. The threats came as Western countries consider bringing back sanctions if nuclear talks do not make progress by summer's end.
Iran's military leadership is now claiming the country can fight a war for up to ten years if needed, as reported by Newsweek’s coverage of recent military statements. Deputy Chief of Staff Mohammad Reza Ashtiani said Iran has enough supplies to wage war for a decade and that what matters most is the fighting spirit rather than equipment. He argued that Iran's enemies may have weapons but lack the will to fight in a long conflict. Iranian lawmakers have approved plans for a major military expansion following the 12-day clash with Israel and the United States.
Newsweek also reported on unverified claims that Iran's president was injured during an Israeli attack on a secret underground facility in Tehran. According to Iranian media, six bombs hit all entry points and cut power, trapping people inside. The president reportedly hurt his leg while escaping through an emergency exit. Iran's parliament has approved a 200 percent increase in defense spending, raising next year's military budget to 46 billion dollars as the country prepares for potential future conflicts.

Israeli media outlet Times of Israel has reported on Iran's Supreme Leader explaining what he believes was Israel's real goal during last month's war. Khamenei said Israel's attacks were meant to weaken Iran's government system and create unrest to overthrow the ruling regime. He claimed the plan was to target important figures and sensitive locations to stir up trouble and bring people into the streets. The conflict began when Israel launched surprise strikes on Iran's nuclear and missile facilities on Friday, June 13, which the United States later joined. Israeli officials said the attacks were necessary to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons and destroying Israel. The Times of Israel noted that Iran has consistently denied wanting nuclear weapons but has enriched uranium to high levels and blocked international inspectors.
More than 1,000 people died in Iran during the conflict, while Iran's retaliation killed 29 people in Israel. The war happened just before planned nuclear talks between Iran and the US, which have not resumed since the fighting ended.
